Waxing - Hair Removal

Waxing is one of the most popular forms of hair removal.  Waxing removes the entire hair, root and all, from the follicle.  As your skin naturally hardens and thickens over the waxed area it is recommended that you exfoliate by using a gentle scrub or a loofah 2 days after waxing then twice weekly.  Waxing will typically last 4-6 weeks with regrowth starting to appear around week 3.

What are the benefits?

Your skin will feel a lot smoother as the waxing has an exfoliating effect on dry skin.  No cuts or shaving rash on a stubble-free skin

What type of wax do we use?

Rejuve Skin stocks several different brands of wax as we have found they all have different strengths and weaknesses. We use hot wax for sensitive intimate areas and strip wax for larger areas like legs, chest, and back.  We use a strip wax roller system for larger areas.  We roll the wax on and use cotton strips to remove it, this system is very efficient.  We have specialist film waxes and hard waxes for brows.

What do I need to do in preparation?

  • Be hairy! Ideally, you would arrive with hair at least 4mm - 7mm long.

  • If you shave please leave at least 2 weeks of growth before waxing.

  • Please arrive clean, ideally freshly showered.

  • For best results arrive with dry skin free of any lotions.

What is a Brazilian Wax?

A brazilian wax involves the complete removal of all hair from the groin area. This is a sensitive area, you may want to take Panadol, Paracetamol, or Nurofen up to an hour before your service.

I'm menstruating, is this a problem?

Your skin is often more sensitive near the time of your period and waxing can be more painful than normal.   Just wear a tampon and let your therapist know at the time of your appointment

I'm worried about it hurting

There are a few things you can do to minimise the discomfort.  Limit caffeine for several hours prior to appointment.   Abstain from alcohol the day before.  You may like to take some Panadol, Nurofen, or Paracetamol up to an hour before your service.

I'm pregnant, is waxing ok?

Waxing during pregnancy is common and considered safe, you may be more sensitive however due to hormone changes.  Please let us know if you are pregnant and we will take extra care to make you comfortable.
